Have you ever wondered how it feels like to use a device that can create portals? Well it lies in the game, Portal.

Portal is a first-person puzzle-platform video game developed and published by Valve Corporation and released on October 9, 2007. Portal takes place in Enrichment Center for Aperture Laboratories, also known as Aperture Science. Portal is about how Aperture Science has been abandoned because of an untested robot AI (Artificial Intelligents) built by the Aperture Scientists named GLaDOS (or Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System) released neurotoxic gas killing all the scientists.  After the gas GLaDOS, she starts to use test subjects for testing the puzzles she has built. The test subjects use portal devices that can create portals so they can get to one place to another. All the test subjects are eliminated because they cannot pass tests. After all the test subjects die GLaDOS has only one test left, Chell. Chell (player) has to try to pass all the tests, learning how to use the portal gun and pass different puzzles and tests.  The player (Chell) has to use a portal gun to pass levels. In tests there can be different traps such as turrets that fires at the player, toxic water, etc. In tests there are cubes you have to place on buttons that activate a door(s).  There are full of puzzles that take your wits to figure out. At the end you have to slay GLaDOS. After you finish the game you can play it again or you can download map, mods (modifications), or skins that can make your portal gun look different.

What I like about this game is the puzzles that it makes me solve. It takes my wits to figure it all out before I reach the next level. I love the story in the game and the story behind it because it seems really interesting and intriguing.  Portal really challenges my mind to figure out the puzzle/challenge. I also love while you’re doing a test GLaDOS always seems to insult you if you fail or while you’re doing a test, which is always hilarious!

But, there are cons about this game. After a while I play the game it gets boring. There isn’t a lot of action and some tests are just too hard to figure out. Sometimes I cannot figure out a test and have to look it up.

I would rate this game 3 ½ out of 5.

Mortal Kombat: The Legend of the Thunder God

   
The Dragon King, the ruler of all that’s good, got mad at Thunder god for stealing an amulet. He sent his guardians Shang Tsung and Quatchi into battle, and they killed the Thunder god. Shao Kahn, the ruler of all that’s evil, sends Scorpion to get rid of Shang Tsung and Quatchi so that he can take the amulet. Will Scorpion get the amulet?

I like this game because it has all kinds of fantasy characters. For example, Subzero is a character that can defend himself with ice. Another example is Goro, one of the strongest characters, has four arms. It’s a fun game!

If you like fighting games, you’ll love Mortal Kombat. I give this game 4 stars!

Greek Mythology Heroes

Odysseus

Odysseus father was Laerest and his mother was Anticlea. He is a Greek Hero because he helped win the Trojan War.  After the Trojan war Odysseus and his men sailed home. Instead of going home he and his men landed on an island. Immediately they started looking for food. One of Odysseus men found a cave full of food. His men immediately started taking the food, but Odysseus said to wait for the owner to return. The owner turned out to be a Cyclopes. He trapped Odysseus and his men in the cave. The Cyclopes started to eat Odysseus men! So Odysseus and the remaining men started to form a plan. Odysseus gave the Cyclopes all there wine from the ship. The Cyclopes thanked Odysseus and said he would eat him last. While the Cyclopes was asleep they started the plan. They took a pointed stick and stabbed the Cyclopes in the eye. The next morning the Cyclopes let his sheep out to graze, touching the tops of the sheep to make sure that the men did not escape. The men hid under the sheep and escaped. Odysseus went to his boat and traveled home. The Cyclopes found out the men had escaped and asked his father Poseidon to bring many storms to him. It took Odysseus many years to return home.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

Hercules

Hercules was the son of Zeus and the son of Alcmene. But Alcmene was a mortal so Hercules was a demi-god. Demi-god are half mortal and half god, so he would die one day. Hera is Zeus’s real wife so Hera was very Jealous that Alcmene actually gave birth to Hercules and she was going to punish Zeus, she realized she couldn’t Zeus was the head of the gods she could do nothing against him. Instead Hera punished Hercules. Since he wasn’t a true god she could. She made Hercules life miserable and gave him many challenges, but Hercules faced them all and won. Eventually Hercules did become a god on Olympus.

Perseus

Perseus is the son of Zeus and Danae. Perseus is the hero that killed medusa. He did this because king Polydectes wanted Perseus out of the way because he wanted to marry Danae. So he set Perseus on a quest to kill Medusa. But with the help of Athena and Hermes, he completed the quest. Perseus was one of the few greek heroes to not be cursed by the gods. He died of old age with his wife.

Let it Shine!

Let it Shine is a movie about this kid named Sirus and his friend Chris. They enter an amateur artist contest on TV. Even though they both enter, Sirus wins and becomes a rapper. Sirus sends in a picture of both Chris and him, so the producers think that Chris is the artist “Truth” (Sirus). Will they ever discover the truth? 

I like this movie because it has a good story and a competitive action. At one point in the movie, the boys decide to have Chris lip sync while Sirus raps.  I watched this movie over and over again.  

If you like movies about music, then you’ll love Let it shine. I give this movie five paws.

Rumble in the Ring!

Wresting is amazing. These are live matches where two men get in a boxing ring and wrestle each other. If you want to win you have to pin the other person to the ground for 3 seconds.

Raw is one of the best wresting shows on TV. It is fun to watch, and it is also looks painful and dangerous. You can get hurt easily, and it takes lots of practice to become a superstar.

Raw has one of the best fighters, The Rock. I think he will become a hall of famer one day. Once, there was a match that was a once-in-a-lifetime event. It was when The Rock versed John Cena in Wrestlemania, and The Rock won. That made him the wrestling champion of the world.

If you like wrestling, then I think you’d like this show. I give it five paws.
